East Rutherford, NJ Saturday Afternoon 2:00 PM

Izod Center in the Meadowlands Sport Complex of East Rutherford, NJ has seen its fair share of shows in the past years. It has also seen some big events which contributed in Monster Jam history such as the debut of the 2008 world freestyle champion and son of Dennis Anderson-Adam Anderson. This year had another historic event as it held Dan Patrick's final time driving a monster truck. Patrick ended up winning the Timed Course competition. Gary Porter driving his brand new Grave Digger #25 truck won both the Donut and Freestyle competitions. Darren Migues came up with the win in the Wheelie Competition, but unfortunately Migues broke his truck in the Donut Competition and was unable to come out to Freestyle. Heartbreaker also struggled with a rearsteer problem all night long. She did not compete in the Wheelie competition, She struggled in the timed course as she jumped over the first two obstacles and drove by the van for an automatic 5 second penalty, she did not compete in the donut competition and she went over 1 jump in her freestyle before her truck died and started smoking up. Mechanical Mischief had a mediocre night as he did not rip any real good donuts, although did pull a nice little wheelie in the wheelie competition, his racing run and freestyle runs were average. Bob Robbins in Aftershock had the same kind of night although he did have a few good licks in his freestyle run and smoked up the track with some sizzilin' donuts. Krazy Train had a twin set of awesome donuts in both the competition and during freestyle. Whit Tarlton kind of flew under the radar during the Afternoon although he pulled a really awesome wheelie and save during the wheelie competition. He pulled some really nice cyclone donuts during his freestyle and donut runs. It was a good night and included a lot of excitement for another memorable show at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Australian Monster Nationals

Australian Monster Nationals Prelude

2007 Australian Monster Nationals - A compilation of three media preludes.

Australian Monster Nationals Preview

For months we talked about the Australian Monster Nationals coming to the Brisbane Ekka RNA Showgrounds, and when it did hit Brisbane on January 20th, it lived up to all expectations. Right from the media day on the Wednesday prior, when basically every form of media in Brisbane turned up for the press day to see local football stars Allan Langer and Shane Webke, along with V8 Touring Car champion Craig Lowndes, strut their stuff in the monster trucks., the event had success written all over it. That night the monsters made every State and National news, had full colour features in next days newspaper and was on at least nine major radio stations.
A new record attendance of 20,202 was set for the Ekka show, and it was the first time in 18 years that the venue had been sold out. Amazingly, the last time this happened was when we ran one of our speedway spectaculars back in the 80's.
The crowd were treated to great stadium motocross action, awesome freestyle motocross with two backflippers, including Crusty Demon Cameron Sinclair, the two Jet Cars and by far the biggest fireworks display the venue had ever seen. Along with that, Jaye Featherby smashed through 3 firewalls on the bonnet of the stunt car, and of course there were the monster trucks!
The trucks started off with a grand parade that also led to the official unveiling of Batman. However, it seems, what surprised the capacity crowd more, was when former QUeensland State of Origin Captain, Allan "Alfie" Langer, jumped out of the truck to wave at the audience.
When the monsters did fire up, first up was a celebrity shootout between Langer in Batman, Craig Lowndes in Aussie Predator and Shane Webke behind the wheel of Monster Patrol. All three trucks and drivers performed surprisingly well, but it was the professional motor racing driver, Craig Lowndes, who without a doubt took out the competition, showing why he really is Australia's number one Touring Car driver.
Half way through the show was the sky wheelie competition, where each truck was given 90 seconds to perform the best sky wheelies and determine who would be the 2007 Australian Champion. Sherri Schafer, driving Bear Foot, was the first out and almost put the truck over on its left side on jump number two. The truck is not the best and is most probably the roughest truck we have ever brought in from the USA, so Sherri did well to do what she did. Later on, during the finale, Sherri would return in the crippled truck, would unbelievingly attempt to jump a row of cars with locked rear steering, and end up putting the truck on its roof!
Lowndes was next, driving Aussie Predator, and for only his second time in the truck, he was almost as good as any monster truck driver, ever in Australia, showing that these elite driver can really drive anything.
Monster Patrol was next, with Webke behind the wheel, but again, the second of the new USA trucks was breaking down badly, leaving one to wonder if these really are the conditions of the trucks that some US promoters are used to... and if so, they must perform extremely poor at shows...
"Alfie" Langer was next up in Batman, and had the crowd cheering straight away. However, he performed distance jumps, so didn't score too well, but was still brilliant considering this is not his regular job.
Next up was Billy Featherby in Captain Crusher, who had the crowd roaring with great jumps. However, the 15 year old still didn't attack one sky wheelie. By far, Billy was the most spectacular, and if it was any other competition, he would of won hand downs.
Last out was Outback Thunda, which was unfortunately losing power right from the first jump. In all honestly, the truck could do nothing but sky wheelies, as it broke down each time it got upright on the cars.
All in all, it was a great night of mixed family entertainment, that has lifted the profile of monster trucks in this part of the world. Unfortunately, the Ekka showgrounds will not be available in 2007 and 2008, due to renovations, so it will not be until be January 2009 that the trucks can return. Hopefully a new Brisbane venue can be found to patch up the gap while the building work is taking place.
Extreme Monster Trucks Australia - Sunshine Coast 2009

Almost 9500 people packed the Kawana sportsground on Saturday night for a spectacular three-hour show which included enough noise and fireworks to send every dog on the Coast running for cover. But the drama was not just the scripted stuff. Organiser Clive Featherbys own monster truck became a ball of smoke after his transmission went - something that seems to happen every time he comes home.
The Glenview showman was fuming about not being able to do a backflip with his truck in front of his home crowd. Its the one night of the year you get terrified, Clive said. We do about 40 shows around Australia - almost one every week - but when youre home you really want to put on your best show.
The Australian monster truck champion may have been disappointed by his own machine but his teenaged sons Billy and Jaye got plenty of airtime as they crushed cars in the middle of the park. A 14-tonne motorbike with a 700 horsepower engine was also a crowd pleaser as it sliced through wrecks.
Among those checking out the action were Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin, fellow crocodile wrestler Wes Mannion and his family, and tennis star Pat Rafter.
International motocross champions Robbie Marshall and Clinton Moore took massive risks to pull off blackflips on their bikes into a headwind at the end of the show. The wind meant plans to put Clives daredevil daughter Sarah on the bonnet of a car and plough it through a wall of fire had to be abandoned because of the risk of sparks going into the crowd. But an unscheduled return of the fire spewing jetvan, together with a fireworks show that was three times the normal one; meant most fans should have left happy.
Yesterday, Mr Featherby was back at Stockland Park to inspect what damage had to be fixed up. This included the impact of dropping a Ford, still leaking fuel, and a Holden from a crane right onto the playing field.
The show cost well over $200,000 to put on - including $25,000 to hire the park - and $45,000 for seating to be erected to accommodate the massive crowd.

Top Truck Challenge 2010

I have recently post about the Top Truck Challenge. But this video missed. Have a look at what they do! Awesome

These are highlights of the Top Truck Challenge 2010. As well as other various shows you will find us at throughout the rest of the year.

2. Uniondale, NY
Gravedigger Freestyle - Monster Jam Freestyle Mania -1/28/11

The Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Freestyle Mania blew into Uniondale, NY right after the year's 2nd biggest storm in New York history but the shocked expressions were all about what took place inside the building the is home to the NY Rangers NHL Hockey team.
The first event of the night was the Freestyle Mania Wheelie Competition. Probably one of the hottest drivers so for this year has to be Darren Meages and Stone Crusher and it showed again tonight all night long in fact. During the wheelie competition scored a 24 and easily took the late lead, but it wouldn't last long when 1 truck later Witt Tarlton and Spiderman took the win by just 1 point.
Next time on the floor was to be the UTI Maniac Challenge (racing) After have been fairly quiet during the wheelie contest, Gary Porter & Grave Digger took the "slower is faster" method of getting around the course and took the win by 3/10th of a second over once again, Darren Meages and Stone Crusher.
This being Freestyle Mania, the WILD-ST part of the night was reving up to hit the track. Freestyle BMX (the best by the way), Freestyle Super Bikes (no slouches here baby), Freestyle Quads (CLEARLY the best of the best), & Freestyle Motocross (are multiple backflips ok?). The fans were, well, SHOCKED by what they were witnessing. Each run, each hit got better than the last. Then to top it off, when every class of freestyler had come out within their own timeslot, the light went out and slammed back on with ALL the freestylers on the track together, at one time. No one knew exactly to look, where to point their camera.
Something was happening everywhere at the same time.
When the smoke had cleared and the fans caught their breath, the Monster Jam Donut contest was next. Darren Meages/Stone Crusher were tied at the top spot with Wheelie winner Witt Tarlton/Spiderman. It was the driver that earlier this year announced that this would be his "Farewell Tour". Dan Patrick and his famous Samson monster would flex its muscle and utilize his years of experience with a quick, simple method. He pitched it sideways, nailed it and just like clockwork did just 3 revolutions so smooth and took the win with a 24. Strike one up for the guy that is supposed to be retiring???
Finally it was time for what everyone was waiting for the Service is Our Best Part Freestyle. It was pretty clear that it was going to have to be a near prefect run to pull off the win. Poking his nose so close to a win tonight in each and every competition was Darren Meages/Stone Crusher, well tonight it was ALL Darren and Crusher! Not one driver could come any closer than 6 points until Gary Porter/Grave Digger came so close, but as I stated earlier, it was Meages and Crusher squeeking out a 1 point win. It probably was one of the coolest interviews of the night when I could just see the twinkle in Darrens eyes. He is going to be making a fun phone call home to the family tonight.

Pit Party Monster Jam San Diego 1-22-2011

Saturday and qualcom stadium before the big crowd. Lots of great looking trucks. The 2010 blue ford raptor svt is great looking. This year no superbike stunt show or remote control car action. just some circus perfomers on pogo sticks Lots of great movie cars, general lee dukes of hazard, smokey and the bandit trans amp, cars mator, scooby doo van. Trucks: USHRA Monster Trucks including Grave Digger® driven by Chad Tingler, Blue Thunder®, Maximum Destruction® driven by Kreg Christensen, Batman driven by Norm Miller, El Toro Loco® driven by Marc McDonald, Monster Mutt® driven by Joe Miller, Avenger driven by Jim Koehler, Wrecking Crew driven by Steve Koehler, Brutus driven by Chris Bergeron, Spike Unleashed driven by Rich Helgendorf, Time Flys driven by Kelvin Ramer, Terminator driven by Gary Schott, Obsessed driven by Rick Swanson, Obsession driven by Jeff Jones, The Felon driven by Mark Schroeder, and Shocker driven by Pat Gerber!
Tonight's Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam rocked with the best fans here in Southern California. Qualcomm Stadium must be one of the loudest venues - if there were a roof, it would have been blown clean off during the opening ceremonies.
We went directly to racing once the trucks entered the track. Tonight's "St. Louis Style" racing track began 20 feet in front of a massive tabletop in the center of the track, and included a long stadium length straightaway that allowed the trucks to fast track just like we do at the World Finals.
Two trucks tonight, El Toro Loco and Lucas Oil Crusader both received their Qualifier Flag tonight for the upcoming Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam World Finals presented by NGK Spark Plugs. For Marc McDonald, it was the second straight year his flag was awarded here in San Diego.
In Racing, with every truck focused on clean corning, we found ourselves with several photo finishes throughout the night.
The second year driver, Joe Miller, moved his status to the next level by setting the bar for 'huge air'. Monster Mutt tonight flew nearly as high as Charlie Pauken took the dog to win the World Freestyle title last March. His time in the hot seat was short though, as McDonald matched the big air and added the carnage at the end of his run. Lucas Oil Crusader and Avenger were the next two trucks to roll at the end of their bonus clocks. Maximum Destruction hit a crush car stack that shot him straight up into the air, as if in slow motion. Kreg maintained control only to conclude with a high speed roll over the edge of the tabletop. His score would hold up against the final truck to run. Digger filled the clock with speed, air, and one of the hardest landings that a truck (and it's driver) would ever have to endure. Tingler drove his Grave Digger up the backside of one of the ramps, launching the 10,000 pound rig straight up, and at an angle. The truck twisted in mid-air, and landed directly on the roll cage surrounding the driver's seat. Once Chad emerged from the busted up legend the crowd roared with approval, and judges awarded him the Freestyle win and tonight's Double Down award.
