1955 GAZ-М72 "Pobeda" ("Victory") 4x4


Running a car "Pobeda" ("Victory"), produced by GAZ named after Molotov.
Why the driver of the car to pick such a complex and difficult path? This is running a new car model "Pobeda" ("Victory") M72. It is designed for heavy duty roads and travel in the mountains. Suspension Body of the machine at 15 cm higher than the usual "Pobeda" ("Victory"). Both major axles. This gives the opportunity to drive on any road. In the mud. In the sand. Even the swamp not care about this car. Gorky Automobile Plant named after Molotov began to mass production of such machines.

Tierra Del Sol Off Road - The Early Years

TDS - The Early Years

This is taken from film captured during first Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari's starting in 1967. This is the famous Truckhaven area near the Salton Sea. The Desert Safari is a huge annual event held the first weekend in March and has grown into one of the largest in the country. This is rare footage of the very start of the grand event.

This is the early years of Tierra Del Sol's annual Desert Safari which happens each year in Southern California. 2011 will be the 49th year. This footage is from the late 60's and early 70's.

This footage is of the 1967 TDS Desert Safari trail crew making the the trail for that year. The Tierra del Sol Desert Safari is still going on today with the 49th coming up during the first weekend in March, 2011.

This is the last of the videos I have put together from the early 8mm films of TDS Desert Safari runs in the late 60's and early 70's. The club was founded 50 years ago and has always practiced conservation and continues the fight to keep public lands open for recreational sports.
