EVO1's Turtle Ridge Ledge Climb - 2012 JK-Experience
Turtle Ridge on Drummond Island, Michigan was one of the last off road parks we got to play in during the 2012 Off Road Evolution JK-Experience, presented by Nitto and, unlike much of what we had been playing in all week, this place had rocky ledges you could climb. Only problem was, getting to them required that you first work your way up a soft muddy hill covered with loose rock and forest mulch. In this short RAW clip, you'll get to see EVO1 clear an exceptionally tough line and with relative ease thanks to the awesome Nitto KOH Edition Trail Grappler MT's he was running.
EVO 1 JK Takes on Hal Johns Waterfall - South Dakota
"Every description I've ever seen of Hal Johns Trail does it in three simple words, "rocks, rocks, rocks!!" And, having been out there for myself, I can tell you that it really is all that and more. Located up in the Black Hills about half way between Sturgis and Deadwood, South Dakota, Hal Johns is a badass rock crawling trail that most people rate a 5 out of 5. In this short WAYALIFE RAW video clip, you'll get to see Mel Wade from Off Road Evolution take on The Waterfall in his 4-door Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited known as, EVO 1. I hope you enjoy."

Keep it Tight: JK-Experience Colorado
For one week during the month of September, 22 Jeep JK Wranglers from around the country and from as far as Canada, gathered in the state of Colorado to traverse almost 1,000 miles though the breathtaking Rocky's, explore famous historic mining towns and, take on some of the most challenging off-road trails that can be found anywhere. This is the Off Road Evolution JK Experience Rocky Mountain Run, presented by Falken Tire, and this is the story of the Jeepers who came looking for an adventure and found what it means to "KEEP IT TIGHT".
Episode 1 of this 4 part series highlights our gathering in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, the starting point of our JK-Experience, and then heads high up into the White River National Forest where we got to run one the most famous and hardcore trails in the state, Holy Cross! Surrounded by Wilderness, Holy Cross is a gorgeous Jeep trail that takes you out to the old ghost town that gives this trail its name and features challenging obstacles such as French Creek. After a fun day of rock crawling over wet boulders, breaking out the winch a few times and seeing some amazing sites, we headed down to the historic town of Leadville which served as our home for the night.
Day 2 of the JK-Experience Rocky Mountain Run would take us south toward the town of Buena Vista, Colorado, and to the trail that a majority in our group would run for the day, Chinaman Gulch. At the trailhead, the option of running the infamous Carnage Canyon BV trail was also given to those willing to risk substantial damage to their rigs and, of the 22 JK's we had, 4 would choose to join EVO 1 in taking on the carnage including, Project-JK's, Moby Dick! Episode 2 highlights our run up this short, "nasty ass" trail as Mel liked to call it, and then follows us as we made a mad dash east with the hopes of being able to climb to the top of Pikes Peak before they closed.
Episode 3 of KEEP IT TIGHT highlights our 3rd and 4th day of The JK Experience Rocky Mountain Run. In it, you'll get to follow us on our long road day back west and see the fun detours that we made to places such as, the world famous Royal Gorge Bridge. After a long night spent working on Jeeps in the town of Montrose, we headed south to the San Juan Mountains and did a scenic run up the gorgeous Alpine Loop. Along the way, we covered trails such as Mineral Creek, Poughkeepsie Gulch, California Gulch and visited historic mining sites and ghost towns such as Animas Forks before ending our day in Silverton, Colorado.
Day 5 of the JK-Experience Rocky Mountain Run took us up and over the most famous and terrifying trails in the state of Colorado, Black Bear Pass. After having some fun on what are certainly some of the most hair raising, narrow switchback roads you can find anywhere, we made our way west to our final destination of the week, Grand Junction. To end our trip with a bang, our 6th and final day would be spent on a short but technically challenging trail called, Billings Canyon. Rated a 9 out of a 10, this trail would put everyone and their rigs to the test and, as you can imagine, had a hell of a great time!

MOAB : Pilgrimage to the Promised Land
More than just a trail, Moab is a destination. It's what many like to refer to as, "the promised land." It's a beautiful off-roading paradise, sculpted out of red rocks and with breathtaking views every which way you look. And, it's a place that most Jeepers hope to make a pilgrimage to at least once in their life.
Originally completed as a single 1 hour film, MOAB : Pilgrimage to the Promised Land, has been broken down into a 6 part series and documents the week long pilgrimage we made with our friends to attend the Easter Jeep Safari back in 2010. While this first episode contains no wheeling, it does feature our caravan to the promised land, the difficulties we encountered along the way and, introduces most of the main characters that you will see throughout the series.
Seven Mile Rim Jeep Trail
In Episode 2, you will get to join us on our first real day out in Moab, meet more of our friends from around the country (including Mark Allen - Senior Manager of Chrysler's Truck Studio/Mopar Underground) and experience the run we did across the Seven Mile Rim Jeep Trail. Along the way, you'll get to see famous sights such as the Uranium Arch, the Merrimack and Monitor Buttes and, you'll even get to see us negotiate our way across a mind screwing off camber rock face and, take on the challenging but way fun Wipeout Hill. Of course, just as we were about to head back to town and with the sun still out, fate would have a funny way of keeping us on the trail a bit longer.
Part 3 of 6 - The Rock at AREA BFE
In Episode 3 of MOAB : Pilgrimage to the Promised Land, we head out to AREA BFE to attend The Rock which is an event that takes place at AREA BFE and is hosted every year by Full-Traction Suspension and Superior Axle & Gear. Normally, this is an event limited to vendors only but fortunately for us, the members of Project-JK.com were invited to join in on the fun and do a run up Green Day. Being that the 2010 Easter Jeep Safari took place in March, the weather was for the most part, really cold and even snowy at times, all week long. However, on this particular day, the sun was out and it was warm enough to warrant a doors off and top off day. After a great day on the trail, we invited some of the new friends we made over to our place for shots of American Honey, a great home cooked meal and to play a few rounds of Corn Hole.
Metal Masher Jeep Trail
In Episode 4 of MOAB : Pilgrimage to the Promised Land, we take on a trail that has put an end to our fun in Moab for two years in a row - Metal Masher! Last year, Trail Bud blew out his rear end on the Sand Ledge and two years before, it was me who busted a rear drive shaft trying to climb it. While some may call it insanity, I'm sure it'd be no surprise to you that we tackle the exact same obstacle on this run and with the expectations of a different result. Other fun obstacles we play on include Tailpipe Hill, Rock Chucker, Mirror Gulch and the Climb Challenge. Before heading back to town, we spend some time along the high cliffs created by the Moab Fault and take in the awesome views out across Arches National Park and the La Sal Mountains.
Elephant Hill Jeep Trail & BBQ
Episode 5 of MOAB : Pilgrimage to the Promised Land, takes you to one of our most favorite destinations in the Moab area, Elephant Hill. Located in the remote southwest corner of the Canyonlands National Park Needles District, Elephant Hill is one of the furthest trails from the town of Moab that you can run but, it's also one of the most beautiful. While the trail itself isn't too difficult, the fairytale like landscape that you get to drive through and outstanding vistas you get to see, such as the confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers, make it well worth the drive.
In this episode, you will also get to see highlights from the Project-JK BAR-B-Q Round-Up that we had on the following day. This was a fun little event where JK-Forum members from all over the country got to come together, meet each other face to face, have some great burgers and great time.
Behind the Rocks Jeep Trail
Episode 6 (final) of MOAB : Pilgrimage to the Promised Land is the last in the series and in it, we decide to go against our better judgment, throw caution to the wind and take on one of the most challenging trails in the Moab area -- Behind the Rocks. With over 20 Jeeps along for the run, this would be the biggest group we've had with us all week and you'll get to see us take on imposing obstacles such as Guardian Hill, High Dive and Upchuck. About halfway through the trail, our group will only be about half as big as many decide to play it safe and head back to town. For the ones who remained, you'll get to see them spin their tires to the top of Hummer Hill, have fun rolling down the Rollercoaster and conquer their fears as they take the plunge off of the intimidating, White Knuckle Hill.

Willys Jeep
The Willys MB US Army Jeep (formally the Truck, 1/4 ton, 4x4) and the Ford GPW, was manufactured from 1941 to 1945. The small four-wheel drive utility vehicles are considered the iconic World War II Jeep, and inspired many similar light utility vehicles. Over the years, the World War II Jeep later evolved into the "CJ" civilian Jeep. Its counterpart in the German army was the Volkswagen Kübelwagen, also based on a small automobile, but which used an air-cooled engine and lacked 4 wheel drive.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Consider the pressure. Fiat chief Sergio Marchionne calls the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler's first all-new model since Daimler ownership, its most important launch this year. More important than the Fiat 500 -- which goes on sale in North America this fall -- displayed alongside it at the April 2009 New York Auto Show.
The hard-core Jeepinisti who consider upside-down "If you can read this, turn me over" window decals basic equipment haven't forgiven Daimler for the Jeep Compass and Patriot, and they're bound to be apprehensive of a new Grand Cherokee built on Mercedes' M-Class platform. Grand Cherokee remains a two-row, five-passenger SUV, while the '12 Dodge Durango on the same platform takes the Commander's place in Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram dealerships as a three-row unibody SUV.
Grand Cherokee gives up its live rear axle for four-wheel independent air suspension. It gains 2.6 inches in width, raising the question of whether it can still handle the narrowest paths of the Rubicon Trail.

While we can't vouch for the Rubicon, Chrysler took us to Moab, Utah, where "sport" in this sport/utility is the way it traverses thin paths of slippery rock and deep sand at speeds perhaps as high as 12 mph. Our Hemi-powered Overland with Uconnect Internet access and panoramic sunroof did everything doorless Wranglers could do, and most everything Gary Fishers could do on this offroad paradise. With the air suspension raised 2.6 inches, the Grand Cherokee's moderately high and wide stance and precise steering makes rock crawling at Moab easy for a sub-expert off-road driver. Jeep faithful can breath a sigh of relief.
Carryover four-wheel-drive systems include the automatic Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II with a two-speed transfer case, and Quadra-Drive II with rear Electronic Limited-Slip Differential. The Quadra-Lift air suspension can be lowered up to 1.5 inches and raised up to 4.1 inches, via the new Select-Terrain system (see sidebar), included with both IIs. The wider stance provides better roll control Jeep says, minimizing head toss on- and off-road. Neither of two pre-production models suffered any body creak on even the steepest, bumpiest climbs and descents.
